For Jay Tompkins, being a lawyer in Carroll County means more than helping people through the justice system – it’s carrying on a more than 150 year family tradition in Southwest Virginia. Joined by Office Manager Delena Scott and Legal Assistant Peggy Davis, the Tompkins Law Firm strives to meet and exceed the precedents of quality, results-driven legal practice set by four generations of Tompkins before Jay.

A graduate of Virginia Tech with a baccalaureate in political science, Jay went onto the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Since being accepted into the Virginia State Bar in 2001, Jay has been serving his Carroll County hometown from an office that sits across from the Old Courthouse and is filled with pictures of previous generations.

Jay is married to Sherry, and they have two sons, Luke and Will.
